Cafe Mogador
Had ladies day brunch with Mop and Deez at Cafe Mogodor on the weekend. A ladies day brunch means you are allowed to order as much as you wish with no guilt, including free-flowing mimosas. We did a wonderful job of it. We ordered falafels and cucumber yoghurt dip with pita to share….this yoghurt dip is total heaven, it has a splash of olive oil on the top and was gone in a second (i think we may have ordered another one). I then had my usual which is the halloumi eggs with roasted tomato and a yummy green salad.
Perk: Delicious food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Perfect for: Breakfast or lunch. Be prepared to wait a while on the weekends…its worth it though.
A Naughty Treat
Sat in the sun on a freezing afternoon and shared a carrot cupcake from The Little Cupcake Bakeshop. How delightful. Naughty food doesn’t count when you share it. It had delicious cream cheese icing (which, let’s be honest, is the best part of any carrot cake).
Perk: this place is gorgeous, more than enough cakes and cupcakes that would make any fat kid happy.
Perfect for: a shared dessert after a nice lunch or dinner date.

Cafe Gitane
Had a super late breakfast at Gitane today..well it was more of a late lunch. It was a little chilly out but we still sat in the sun outside…which meant that steaming baked eggs were a suitable option. Had the salmon eggs, with potato, capers and basel - piping hot and hugely filling. Couldn’t finish it and lasted me for hours. Ended the meal with a square of dark chocolate. What more could you want?
Perk: warm and filling on a cold day
Perfect for: breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Earth Matters
Spent the day with Ashley yesterday and we stopped by Earth Matters for some lunch. How great is a good old sandwich? I had a turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese and olive tapenade. Everything is organic and totally delicious.
Perk: Cute helpful boys serving your lunch. Healthy organic food. They also have a mini supermarket inside to stock up on your nuts and berries.
Perfect for: in need of a yummy salad or sandwich.
Meal of Sorts
It’s the quick breakfast of champions; yoghurt, honey, flax seeds and raw almonds. Keeps you full for hours and super easy.
Perk: quick, healthy and delicious.
Perfect for: breakfast in bed.

Cafe Gitane
Stopped by Gitane late at night to say hi to the girls and have a glass of vino and a gossip at the bar. Also managed to get my chocolate fix in.
Perk: best ladies in green anywhere, give good hugs and good chats
Perfect for: great for a chilled vino and a light snack.
Rubys
Met everyone at Rubys on a lovely warm, sunny day for some lunch. Sat out in the sun with chucky, Dossy made me a delicious soy latte and I ate a yummy salad. Today I had the tuna salad with greens, tomatoes, pine nuts with a lemon olive oil dressing. Delicious.
Perk: lots of great salads. Service with a smile.
Perfect for: a meal in the sun with your puppy.
Cafe Mogador
Had ladies day brunch on Saturday at one of my favorite spots, Cafe Mogador in the East Village. It was super busy and we had to wait for a while but it was definitely worth it. I had my favorite thing on the menu; the hallumi eggs. It’s a two poached eggs with hallumi, roasted tomato, zata pita and a baby green salad with olives. Soooo good to start your day. We shared a plate of falafels and some merguez sausages too. Teas and coffee all round and it still only cost us $20 each. Bargain.
Perk: this place has hallumi!! My favorite and can never find it in this city.
Perfect for: delicious falafel pitas, eggs and couscous for dinner.

In Search of:
The perfect fish taco. I really really love fish, i also really really love anything i can put hot sauce onto. Enter the fish taco. Had a lunch at Cafe Habana across the street the other day with the Flynn’s and Mop. This may be one of my favorite fish tacos i’ve had in a while. Its WAY too much food, i never really touch the rice and only have a bit of the beans…but the winner is the lightly battered Baja style catfish, shredded cabbage and the smoky brown spicy sauce that comes on the side. YUM. Its super duper busy on weekends, actually its ALWAYS busy so be prepared to wait between 20-45 mins for a table.
Perk: really cheap food, sweet waitresses and yummy food. Try the corn they are famous for.
Perfect for: burger, famous delicious corn, tacos, quesadillas. Better for small parties. Think they have the worlds smallest tables.
